SOLUTION NITRIDING
Process
Solution Nitriding is a nitriding process done in a special vacuum furnace at high temperatures and over pressure. It provides a nitrogen enriched structure to most stainless steels. It is primarily used for Martensitic materials where case depth of up to .040 deep is required. It can also be used on austenitic materials such as 300 series and PH materials. Some materials may require aging or tempering after this process. It provides a deeper case depth than conventional nitriding and a corrosion resistant structure.
Specifications
Process Temperatures are 2000F – 2200F.
The Solution Nitriding, or SOLNIT, process significantly improves corrosion and wear characteristics.
